Expertise: Environmental Qualification
To prepare systems and components for adverse operating environments, such as high/low temperatures or vibration, Parvus Corporation often integrates Environmental Testing and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) into its systems development process to preserve functionality, structural integrity and environmental compatibility.
To qualify a new system design, environmental testing can be initially performed at the system level, followed by ESS testing on a unit-by-unit basis to verify mechanical integrity. Testing may be accomplished through in-house testing, manufacturer documentation, and/or independent testing by a certified, third-party testing facility.
Since Parvus manufactures products based on modular components, the company often has the ability to transfer adherence to environmental specifications from one design to another. In other cases, a non-recurring engineering (NRE) fee may be required to develop certain components contained within a proposed system design. This fee includes design, development, integration, manufacturing, and environmental testing for the first system produced. Recurring electrical and mechanical ESS fees may also be associated with each subsequent individual system produced, depending up customer requirements.

ESS screening may include temperature cycle and vibration cycle testing to evaluate the mortality of each unit. Depending on system requirements, any combination of the following environmental tests and others can also be performed:
- Operating/Storage Temperature
- Explosive Decompression
- Operating/Storage Humidity
- Shock: Transit Drop, Gun Firing
- Vibration: Loose Cargo, Transient Vehicle
- Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility (EMI/EMC)
- Leakage, Fungus
- Nuclear Survivability
- Biological and Chemical Survivability
- Explosive Atmosphere
- Salt/Fog
