Expertise: Rapid Mechanical Prototyping

Parvus Corporation leverages state-of-the-art rapid prototyping (RP) equipment and technical expertise to reduce the time and cost involved in developing custom mechanical components and systems for its customers.

Utilizing solid modeling computer software together with highly accurate three-dimensional imaging and printing equipment, Parvus' engineering team quickly creates 3D physical prototypes ready for functional testing and review. The RP process effectively reduces the time and expense involved in taking a product from concept to production.

Parts are typically made of ABS polymer material, which is durable enough to simulate end-product performance and in certain low-volume applications even serve as production parts. These plastic prototypes follow precise specifications from 3D CAD solid models to create even intricate parts with extremely fine feature detail.

Produced efficiently in a matter of hours, RP components take advantage of fused deposition modeling technology to accurately construct a variety of mechanical prototypes. Models can also be quickly fine-tuned and redone with as many design iterations as are required.

After the revised prototype is complete, units can be examined by customers within days of the initial design to verify form, fit and function before large-scale production begins. Avionics display panels , electronics enclosures and many other mechanical component have been rapidly prototyped in this fashion by Parvus.

Shown here are some examples of such prototyped parts, including a computer chassis, floppy drive mounting plate, and enclosure endcaps.
