PC/104 386 CPU @40MHz, Ethernet, 4 Serial, 2 CAN, 16 DIO

CPU-1211

The CPU-1211  is a low-cost PC/AT compatible single board computer (SBC) integrating the ALi M6117C processor - the fastest and highest-performing Intel 386SX class embedded controller available (core running at 40MHz). Fitted with 4MB of soldered DRAM, the 2100 Series integrates the following peripherals: four (4) serial ports, parallel port (only in alternative to Floppy), AT keyboard port, IDE controller, 16 general-purpose digital I/O channels, 10MBps Ethernet controller, two (2) CAN 2.0B controllers, real time clock, and watchdog timer.

This PC/104 processor module also integrates a DiskOnChip® solid state disk (SSD) socket that can perform like a floppy disk unit to store the operating system or user programs. This low-power board works with a single +5V supply and has a power consumption of 700mA.

For customers implementing Ethernet functionality, an external adapter is available with transceiver that connects the AUI interface to TP. Adapters for the two CAN ports are also available, which provide a galvanically isolated physical interface compatible with the ISO/DIS 11898 standard. Both CAN ports are implemented using the Intel® 82527 chip, which supports CAN specification 2.0 Part B and Part A and performs all serial communications functions such as transmission and reception of messages, message filtering, transmit search and interrupt search with minimal interaction from the host microcontroller.

The 1211 Series’ embeded BIOS is located in a Flash EPROM and is reprogrammable on-board. A ROM-DOS kernel comes preloaded to facilitate rapid implementation. The set-up parameters are also saved on EEPROM allowing the module to operate without battery and avoid set-up corruption in the field. The Flash BIOS has a capacity of 1MB, 128KB of which are used by the BIOS and its extensions. The remaining can be used as read-only disk or to store the OS and other user programs/data. DOS®, QNX®, PSOS®, and Linux® operation systems are supported.

For first-time users seeking rapid, out-of-the-box implementation, a bundled hardware development kit is also available, which comes pre-assembled and ready-to-use. The CPU-1211-99 development kit includes the 1211 CPU module, 104FX PC/104 video card, AUI to TP Ethernet Transceiver, RS-485 CAN interface, POST code card, cables and the ROM-DOS operating system - all of which come pre-installed on a benchtop PC/104 development station (with CD-ROM drive, 1.44MB floppy drive, 2.5" IDE hard drive, 110-220V AC power supply, and PC/104-Plus/PCI/ISA backplane). Simply attach a keyboard, mouse, and monitor and you have all of the system resources of a typical desktop PC. ROM-DOS will boot automatically from Flash or you can install your own operating system. Also known as the SpacePC® 1211.
