5x5 Individual or Optional Parts & Accessories

Gaskets, Flange Baseplates, Endcaps, Extrusions

PRODUCT INFORMATION
The following are individually sold parts and optional accessories related to the DuraChassis 5x5 enclosure, including extrusions, endcaps, heatsinks, baseplates, gaskets and septums. Click on the links below to learn more about each individual component.

NOTE: As the DuraChassis enclosure is a bundled enclosure solution sold complete with extrusion, end caps, card cage and internal mounting method (shock rocks), Parvus offers the DuraChassis at up to a 20% discount over individual parts pricing. See DuraChassis datasheet to learn more.

Extrusions: Available in 6.0", 8.0", 10.0" and 12.0" standard lengths, 5x5 extrusions offers 5.0" x 5.0" internal dimensions for mounting a railed card cage, aluminum septum or custom baseboard. They also provide 0.50" of space around the outside of the railed card cage for connectors and ribbon cables. The extrusions enable convective-cooling with 0.10"-spaced internal grooves along its inside walls to dissipate heat and/or enable a septum plate or baseboard to be slide horizontally inside. The bottom is design to mate with an aluminum baseplate.

Baseplate: Used to securely mount a 5x5 extrusion to a wall, bulkhead or other fixture. Measuring 6.5" x 5.3" in size, this aluminum Baseplate incorporates a dovetail grooved design to enable easy slide-in/slide-out access to the 5x5 extrusion. Made of rugged .375” aluminum, the pre-drilled baseplate incorporates 10 mounting holes. Four addition holes are used to create tension between the baseplate and extrusion to keep them securely together.

End Caps: Aluminum 0.062" thick Dust endcaps or 0.375" aluminum NEMA endcaps fit on the end of a 5x5 extrusion to provide a degree of protection from falling dirt. NEMA end caps incorporate an extra lip that fits around the extrusion end to improve the environmental seal and deliver a higher NEMA rating standard. End caps are available in various standard or custom configurations (i.e. connector cutouts, heatsinks), etc.

Gaskets: EMI shielded and rubber gaskets are available for 5x5 NEMA end caps. Like rubber gaskets, EMI gaskets provides protection against water, EMI Gaskets also protect against harmful electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Chassis Heatsinks: Aluminum Chassis Heatsinks can increase the surface area of an enclosure housing, transferring potentially damaging heat away from a system and preventing performance degradation. Standard lengths are 5.5", 7.5", 9.5", and 11.5".

Shock Rocks are designed to isolate and absorb potentially damaging shock and vibration energy experienced by embedded PC/104 electronics in mobile, vehicular and other high shock/vibration environments. Made of 59 durometer Silastic® silicone rubber material, Shock Rocks attached to railed card cages can successfully reduce G-force frequencies on three axis by up to a factor of 10. Sets of 4 (either 4 large or 4 small) and a set of 12 (8 large and 4 small) are available.

Aluminum Railed Card Cages: Card Cages are  made up of four sturdy aluminum rails with a steel end cap bolted on each end. Rails are available in four different lengths - 4.0", 6.0", 8.0", and 10.0" – to accommodate up to 5, 8, 11, and 14 PC/104 cards, respectively. A card cage is designed to eliminate the need to use tedious standoffs or spacers, while at the same time securely holding the corners of each circuit board in the stack and protect the system from damage. A PC/104 card stack can be quickly assembled and disassembled by simply removing two rails, which enables complete access to the card stack. To view the PC/104 Railed Card Cage datasheet and ordering information, click here.
