Aircraft Network Server
Airborne File and Internet Server
PRODUCT INFORMATION
This PC/104-based file server is designed to operate aboard an aircraft, providing real-time Internet access and corporate network connectivity. As a compact, easy-to-install Local Area Network (LAN) computer, the unit gives passengers airborne access to e-mail, corporate portals, intranets, printer services, modem sharing, and large storage capabilities. Two versions have been developed to accommodate baseplate mounting or ARINC 404A Aviation Transport Racks (ATR) using J-Hooks & Bushings. The ATR version is housed in a customized 3/4 ATR Short enclosure.
Internal PC/104 electronics are mounted on a dual PC/104 motherboard that accommodates two mass storage cartridges (either Flash or Spinning Media) and two stacks of PC/104 modules, including a two-slot PCMCIA interface, high efficiency PC/104 power supply, ARINC 429 databus module, and PC/104 CPU with Ethernet functionality. An integrated modem card is used with the PCMCIA controller to establish a datalink with the ground.
The system is housed in an 3x5 extruded aluminum enclosure with customized 3/4 ATR end caps or 3x5 NEMA end caps. The front end cap has a spring-loaded locking door to cover and protect the removable media cartridges and LED activity indicators. The mass storage cartridges are housed in cartridge bays that are shock-isolated by Silastic® hard drive bumpers (similar to Bumper Beans).
