PRODUCT INFORMATION
The Parvus Real-Time Fare Collection Gateway is a collection of hardware, software and services that provide the infrastructure needed to build an electronic fare collection system with real-time point-of-sale capabilities. This system is designed for use by public transit properties on bus and rail vehicles.
The Vehicle Gateway is based on the Parvus RiderNet³ product which has been successfully deployed at transit properties throughout North America. The Gateway connects to the on-board fare-collection equipment (card readers, fare box) and provides a reliable connection to the Internet using cellular and/or 802.11 technology. Parvus' software provides management of the wireless connections for maximum network availability. In addition, the Parvus DepotLink™ software (patent-pending) is used where necessary to make intelligent routing decisions based on vehicle location and other data.
The Fleet Management portion of the Real-Time Fare Collection Gateway is based on Parvus' RiderNet Live system. This system is a suite of hosted backoffice applications which provide tracking and management, and over-the-air updates of software and settings for the Vehicle Gateways. In addition, software API's are available for integration of the fleet data into the larger electronic fare collection system back-office.
Parvus designed the Real-Time Fare Collection Gateway to provide a turn-key system for transit authorities, consultants, and fare collection vendors to 'plug in' a proven system for the wireless components required to process contactless payment cards and credit cards in modern transit systems.
